 The Department features classrooms with LCD projector, a sophisticated
media computer lab, Audio/ Video studio and a library.
Each student is
assigned with a personal computer (Updated
with new processor with large memory
and storage space) connected to a broadband network.

subscribes to several Newspapers and Magazines in addition to our own extensive
collection of books in library that contains a collection of major journalism
related books in, Print, Online Journalism, Television, and Radio journalism.

The Computer Lab:

During a three year degree course students are using the
following softwares for text editing, web production and TV production.
The software's used are: Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel & PowerPoint), QuarkXPress, CorelDraw, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, For video editing:
Adobe Premier Pro. etc.
Audio/Video Studio
  The Audio video studio are equipped with high resolution HD video camera, sony handy cam and DSLR cameras. The Audio/Video studio is shared with the Department of Mass Communications and Videography. The studio is mostly used in the Papers of Photojournalism, Broadcast Journalism I( Radio) and in Broadcast Journalism II (TV production). In the Audio Control Room students produce the Radio News, Radio Docudramas etc. whereas in the main studio are given the opportunity to work on Indoor photography and various Indoor video shooting for ex. Panel Discussions, Multicam Shoot etc. Students' Publications
In order to give on
the job training students are placed with some of the leading newspapers/tabloids
or TV news channel to intern for the period of one month in the first year of
the course
In the second year of
journalism students of SYBA has to make a full page with any of the leading
newspaper.This year we had the opportunity to make one full page with Gomantak
times, sakaal publications English daily in Goa and also with The Navhind
Times.
In the final year of
the degree course along with other subjects like Broadcast journalism (TV and
Radio) Online journalism, Photojournalism etc. The students has to come out
with a professional 40 page magazine titled VOICES and GENESIS.
